Starting from the cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender, 20th Century Studios and Lightstorm Entertainment, producers of the film Avatar offer us a 2nd vision of this successful film which is one of the best and most profitable at the box office. This is the2nd film set in the Avatar universe.

We discover an underwater plot that takes place several years after the destruction of the house tree, in the1st film Avatar.

The second part of the Avatar film saga, finally has a name, Avatar: The Way of Water. The film normally scheduled for 2017 has been postponed several times for lack of resources and adequate equipment to shoot the underwater scenes.

The trailer of the film has been unveiled since April 27, 2022 at CinemaCon, with the name of the film as a surprise, and has been released online from May 9, 2022.

Jake Sully and Neytiri, the main protagonists of the movie Avatar, have formed a family and are doing their best to stay together. They still have to leave their home and explore new regions in Pandora, when an old threat resurfaces, and Jake makes the decision to engage in a painful struggle against the human race.

Avatar becomes the fifth film to surpass the very high mark of a billion dollars in revenue, as well as the2nd film to be able to reach 2 billion dollars. After only 6 weeks of marketing, it was able to become the biggest success in the history of cinema, surpassing the famous film Titanic, also a successful film by director James Cameron. He announced that after the success of the film, he planned to develop 4 sequels.

We will find the main actors already known in Avatar 1 such as, Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet and many others invited in the shooting of the cult film.

2-Realization & production

In August 2013, Fox Entertainment Studios announced the preparation of 3 sequels to the movie Avatar, which were to be available in December 2016, 2017, and 2018 respectively.

On January 14, 2015, the producer and director James Cameron, finally announces that the first sequel of Avatar, can only be available at the end of 2017, eight years after the1st film, which effectively postpones the releases of the 2 remaining sequels to 2019 and 2020, for Avatar 3 and 4

2016, on January 22, 20th Century Fox, the production house of said film postpones the release of avatar in 2018, giving reasons like delays in production of the sequels and competition with Stars Wars, another world-successful film.  In April 2016, James Cameron confirmed the release of avatar at the end of 2018 and thus redeclared the sequels, in 2020 and 2021.

April 2017, not 2 times without 3, the postponement is still put on the table for the greatest regret of the fans. The release of avatar 2 will be bet on December 18, 2020, and the rest spread over December 17, 2021 for Avatar 3, December 20, 2024 for Avatar 4 and December 19 for Avatar 5.

With an estimated budget of about $1 billion, James admits that he wants to shoot several episodes at once, and insists that if Avatar 2 and 3 could not be shot, the series would no longer have a sequel. In May 2018, James Cameron, confirmed that all the sequels of his films will be filmed in 3d.

The shooting of the first sequel to the film was scheduled from the 2017 holidays. In 2020, it was suspended due to the Covid pandemic, which pushed back filming to June 2020, making it the first Hollywood production to resume filming.

The film, however, has been scheduled for the month of December, precisely on December 14, 2022 in France and December 16, 2022 in the United States to the delight of the public.
